"Everything from a single source”: BOPLA adds sheet metal enclosures to its product range

Bünde, 16. January 2024 – From the idea to the design to manufacturing: in the bent sheet metal enclosure sector, Bopla Gehäuse Systeme GmbH, based in Bünde, has added to its range of products. This means that customers benefit from an even more comprehensive and individual complete service. For electrical technology in the medical sector or fibre-optic expansion, BOPLA provides suitable solutions made of aluminium, stainless steel and steel. And they are always tailor-made.

What started as a niche sector at BOPLA as an alternative to standard plastic product manufacturing has become an increasingly important sector for the enclosure specialists from Westphalia in Germany. Now BOPLA’s customers enjoy an all-round service and receive everything from a single source.

“The demand for our bent sheet metal enclosures is growing and growing. As a result of this development, we have expanded and optimised the range of our services in this sector,”

– Olaf Kleineberg, product manager for 19″ and individual enclosures at BOPLA

Even more efficient manufacturing opportunities and customer advisory services

BOPLA has responded to the increasing demand. The company has specifically expanded the fast sample and prototype manufacturing sector. In addition to shorter distances and faster lead times, BOPLA has now provided in-house for all bent sheet metal enclosures even greater manufacturing depth such as digital printing, laser marking and touch and display integration.

To ensure even more effective customer advice, BOPLA has also applied six display models using the name “Interzoll Case”: a family of monitor enclosures, desktop enclosures, console enclosures, 19” enclosures, DIN rail enclosures and cavity wall enclosures. These are ideal for use as a basis for customer-specific projects and, thanks to pre-constructed enclosure concepts, can be implemented quickly.

With these models, and as early as the consultation phase, BOPLA provides the customer with an impression of the end product and shows the opportunities for incorporating specific requirements. Additionally, BOPLA is also the right partner for customers with needs which are completely different from the Interzoll Case concept. Their website shows how default 2D and 3D models can be specially modified so that individual requirements are taken into account during the planning phase.

Individual and tailor-made for a wide range of applications

In Olaf Kleineberg’s opinion, bent sheet metal enclosures are becoming increasingly popular because of the design opportunities that they provide. BOPLA offers every customer an individual sheet metal design for his enclosure.

“Many customers do not want to use the same enclosures that the competition has. They want a USP, a design of their own, which they can identify with,”

– Olaf Kleineberg, product manager for 19″ and individual enclosures at BOPLA

In order to meet the customer’s needs in the best possible way, a BOPLA designer works, together with the customer, on the design of the enclosure. A wide range of colours and surface descriptions is available for this purpose. From aluminium to sheet steel, from powder lacquering to a corrosion-protected bare metal surface, the enclosure can be matched to every situation and place of use. On a sheet metal enclosure, cut-outs for connectors, cooling vents, break-throughs for cables and project-specific fixing options for PCBs and electronic components are an integral part of the manufacturing process.

The special material characteristics are additional important selection criteria. Sheet metal enclosures provide excellent thermal conductivity and protection against electromagnetic radiation. In addition, aluminium is especially light. Steel and stainless steel stand out thanks to their robustness and durability. Because of their diverse material properties, bent sheet metal enclosures are found in numerous applications such as protection for electrical technology in trains, in petrol station and football stadium cash register systems, and also as 19″ enclosures used as electronics coverings in company server rooms.

“We have customers in every conceivable sector, and now, for all of them, expanded matching services and the optimal enclosure solution. Our bent sheet metal enclosures are as individual as our customers.”
