50 years of BOPLA – the story of our company
We are looking back on 50 years of company history. Half a century full of exciting projects, interesting challenges and so many innovations in the field of enclosure technology.
In the course of all these years, BOPLA has succeeded in establishing itself as the enclosure manufacturer which stands for quality and innovative strength. This is something of which we are especially proud. Of course, we didn‘t write this success story all by ourselves, but together with our customers, colleagues and business partners, and that is why, once again, we want to say a huge THANK YOU:
- THANK YOU for showing your interest in our products!
- THANK YOU for putting your trust in us!
- THANK YOU for working together with us!
Join us in looking forward to BOPLA’s trendsetting developments in the coming years, and in taking a look at the last 50 years:
1970
It all started in a small garage in the town of Bünde, in the East Westphalian part of Germany, where Günther Frankowski was working on the development of enclosures to protect electronic components.
When it became clear that the world was showing more and more interest in these unremarkable enclosures, he founded the Bündoplast company on January 14, 1970. The aluminium “Alument” enclosures were the young company’s first group of products.
Today we are BOPLA, one of the most important companies in the enclosure industry, and we develop plastic and aluminium electronics enclosures for customers all over the world.
1977
In 1977, the company was taken over by the Swiss firm of Phoenix Mecano AG, a technological company which operates globally. Phoenix Mecano AG is present at more than 60 locations worldwide, on all six economically-relevant continents. Phoenix Mecano brands are divided into the following three groups:
- Enclosure technology (including BOPLA)
- Mechanical components
- ELCOM / EMS
1978
Today’s company headquarters are set up in the Borsigstraße.
1985
