Maximum protection in challenging environmental conditions

Their design is attractive, and at the same time they are especially robust – they are the electronics enclosures in BOPLA’s Alubos, Alustyle and Bocube Alu series. In particular, Bocube aluminium enclosures with IP69 ingress protection are unaffected by high pressure water jets, submersion or chemicals. Their high level of mechanical stability is impressive, as are their good EMC screening and UV and temperature change resistance. These characteristics mean that they are ideal for use in especially harsh environments both above and below ground, and for outdoor use in the classic mechanical engineering, traffic technology or renewable energies sectors.

All the components used in the three series of enclosures are made of metal. For Bocube Alu, this applies to the integrated hinges and the variably mountable covers, which are permanently fixed to the enclosures. The sturdy enclosures provide mounting space for rectangular PCBs. Recessed front surfaces protect the electronic components. Special holders for the cost-effective integration of pressure compensation elements are fitted in the bases of the enclosures. Other elegant and attractive features include the concealed enclosure screws and natural-coloured anodised hinges and covers which stand out against the graphite-grey powder-lacquering (similar to RAL 7024). Alternatively, the enclosures are available in light grey (similar to RAL 7035), and on request the hinges can be supplied in special colours.

IP69 also applies to touch displays

Bocube Alu enclosures provide the high level of IP69 ingress protection for devices with a membrane keypad and for enclosures with an integrated capacitive touch screen. To achieve this, the narrow air gap between the glass pane and the enclosure is filled all the way round with sealant. On request, silicone seals for use in high temperatures, special EMC seals and seawater-proof coatings are available. What is more, the entire range of catalogue products in the series is available ex warehouse with nine enclosure sizes including accessories such as wall-mounting brackets, pressure compensation membranes, mounting panels made of laminated paper, and various DIN rail types.

Additional enclosure variants for harsh environments

The extremely variable enclosures in the Alubos (IP65) and Alustyle (IP66/68) series are very sturdy and tough. The basis for both series is aluminium extruded profiles, which are cut to the individually-required size and closed with aluminium or die-cast zinc covers. Recessed profile sides are suitable for mounting membrane keypads. Large contact surfaces at the transition between the cover and the profile guarantee a good level of EMC protection which can be increased even more with optionally-available EMC seals. The end covers have a recessed surface for fitting front membranes or membrane keypads. Removable or hinged covers with a seal are available for IP protection.
