"Our new location in Kirchlengern is the key to positioning ourselves as a holistic system provider," says Managing Director Ralf Bokämper. "We are creating opportunities to offer customers enclosure systems from a single source in an enormous vertical range of manufacture and to intensify system integration services."
- 2,000 square meters offer space for development as a system provider
- We bundle customized enclosures in one place
- Free capacities in Bünde for growing area of system integration
Optimized material flow for even better performance
In Kirchlengern, the company is moving into three contiguous hall complexes in the West Industrial Estate not far from its headquarters. There, we will concentrate on all activities in the field of Custom Designed Enclosures (CDE), which include 19-inch enclosures. The center of the new location is the production with assembly. The material flow has been optimized so that we can offer even faster delivery times in the future. By bundling the CDE division, all competencies - including design, project and production control, purchasing and sales - can be found at one location. In addition to production, we are also installing a new warehouse, quality assurance, aluminum profile processing and new bending technology for sample production.
With the expansion, BOPLA is establishing a clear separation of the business areas from standard components on the one hand and customer-specific solutions on the other. While we are developing new CDE capacities in Kirchlengern, the area of site components in Bünde is being further developed. System integration in particular is set to benefit from this. Among other things, the company is expanding digital printing and adding places for electronics assembly on the enclosures. According to Bokämper, this follows a clear objective: "The requirements for durable electronic housings are increasing. More than ever, we are now in a position to offer our customers a complete service - and that from the idea to production to individual packaging."
Positive business development requires new capacities
The background to the expansion is the positive development of recent years. Contrary to cautious expectations, especially during the corona pandemic, we recorded record levels of new orders. The number of employees in Bünde rose to around 250, and recently the capacities there alone were no longer sufficient. At the same time, the opportunity arose to move into free production space of the parent company, the Phoenix Mecano Group.
In 2022, the conversion work finally started. After gutting the building, we further developed the site according to its requirements. A new storage system was brought in. Special ESD floors were integrated. Sustainability aspects also played a central role in the implementation. For example, the prerequisites were laid for largely electrically operated plant traffic.
With the new location in Kirchlengern, we now have seven production sites worldwide. In addition to the headquarters in Bünde and Kirchlengern, the systems supplier manufactures in Hungary, Romania, India and the USA. In addition, there is the site of Kundisch GmbH & Co. KG. The subsidiary develops intelligent technologies in the HMI sector, so that both companies benefit from the joint synergies.
