Touch / display integration

As a result of their widespread use in mobile telephones and tablets, many electronic devices are now also operated in industrial applications by means of a touch screen or a display.

We support you in developing cost-effective, user-friendly devices with touch operation by integrating capacitive and resistive touch screens in standard and customers‘ own electronics enclosures.

Integration possibilities

All-round carefree package

When a capacitive touch display is integrated, on request BOPLA will be glad to carry out the printing of the glass pane using the silk screen process. The back-printed glass front and the touch display are then joined together using optical bonding under clean room conditions and afterwards embedded in the enclosure. In doing this, we use in-house developed encapsulation technology which ensures a high standard of optical quality and mechanical stability. On request we will install additional elements such as PCBs, cable glands or complex electronics suitable for ESD.

Your BOPLA advantage

Together with a final test of the complete application and ESD-compliant packaging, this means that you receive a genuine “all-round complete package”.

So that we can deal with your inquiries as quickly as possible, we recommend that you provide us with the required information in these file formats!

An overview of the touch integration process

1. Standard enclosure from stock
The standard BOPLA enclosure is the starting point for every application.

2. Machine finishing
On request we carry out for you mechanical processes such as milling, drilling, thread cutting, and many more.

3. Laser marking
Laser printing can play its part in creating an especially attractive appearance.

4. Printing of the glass plate
We use the silk screen process to print the glass pane in accordance with your specifications.

5. Optical Bonding: Joining of glass and touch screen / display
We join the glass front to the touch screen or display using the optical bonding process.

Liquid glueing of the components creates an especially high standard of optical quality and mechanical stability.

6. Bonding of the touch screen / display unit
The complete unit is inserted into the enclosure and fixed in position by means of a bonding layer.

7. Retaining plate installation using our own BOPLA method
A retaining plate is required in order to stabilise the touch/display unit. In order to mount it securely, we have developed special encapsulation technology (proprietary process).

8. All-in assembly of the enclosure
On request we install additional elements such as PCBs, cable glands or complex electronics suitable for ESD. We will also gladly carry out, working closely with you, a final test of the complete application.

9. ESD-safe customised packaging
Sensitive equipment needs shipping- and ESD-safe packaging. We use a tailor-made solution to ensure that your equipment can be safely stored and shipped.

System integration down to the smallest detail:

The combination of a touch screen with a conventional membrane keypad is also possible. In addition, we offer solutions with a continuous front membrane (resistive touch screens) or a continuous cover glass (capacitive touch screens) for every application in which there must be no dirt-collecting edges – examples include the medical technology and foodstuffs sectors.

Almost all our enclosures are suitable for the integration of touch or display screens. However, with our BoTouchseries we are developing a special range of enclosures which is targeted specifically at the integration of capacitive and resistive touch screens.
