Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)

You want us to produce an individual special enclosure for you? Of course, part of BOPLA's offer is to give you a closer look at your enclosure, and if you require small quantities of it, we make this possible within a few working days. The preferred method of doing this is called Fused Deposition Modeling.

In Fused Deposition Modeling, a workpiece – for example, an enclosure – is built up in layers from a thermoplastic material.

The process, which is one of the standard methods used for rapid prototyping, is based on the liquefaction, by heating, of a wire-shaped plastic or wax material. As the material cools, it becomes solid again. Material deposition takes place by means of extrusion using freely-movable heating nozzles. The layer thickness is around 0.25 mm, with a wall thickness of at least 1 mm. When a model is built up in layers, the individual layers combine to form a complex part. Using this method, protruding components can be manufactured with the use of a supporting material to form a suitable construction.

Details supplied by the customer:
In order to be able to manufacture the samples you require, we only need the 3D data for the relevant enclosure or component.

Delivery time:
Delivery time is from 4 to 10 days after receipt of the order and provision of the data.
